Cormack, who has been head fitness coach with the West Coast Eagles for the past eight years, is in the process of relocating his family to Melbourne and officially starts work at Essendon in the next few weeks.
Team manager, David Calthorpe, said the players were impressed with Cormack's experience.
“He spoke about the direction that he wants to take the playing group, his goal of elevating the player group to be one of the best physically prepared teams in the AFL, which I am sure is the goal of every fitness coach,” Calthorpe said.
“I think the players were overwhelmed by his experience and background. He spoke about what he has done at West Coast, the AIS and St Kilda and I think it really made the players think that we have a really good person to replace John Quinn.
“Although they are not thinking about pre-season at the moment, I think there is genuine excitement amongst the playing group about having someone fresh to work with next year.”
Meanwhile, there have been more changes at Windy Hill with fitness coach, Joel Hocking, resigning after five years to take up the position of head fitness coach at the Melbourne Football Club.
“We want to thank Joel for his commitment and hard work with our playing group,” Chief operating officer Travis Auld said
“Joel is a talented individual and it is pleasing that we have been able to assist in his development and wish him well with his new role.”
