Essendon football operations manager, Paul Hamilton, will take up the role of chairman of selectors with the club this season.

Long-time director, Kevin Egan, had previously filled the role but he made the decision at the start of the 2008 season, that it would be his last year in the position.

“This is the first time that someone from outside the board has filled this role, and it is a clear expression of confidence in the overall management of the football department,” Essendon chairman Ray Horsburgh said today.

“The responsibility also fits neatly with his current role of football operations manager.

""Kevin has been a great support to the football department over many years and we are very grateful for his contribution.”
