Essendon champion Scott Lucas has accepted a part time coaching position at the club for the 2011 season.
Lucas will be predominantly working with the Bombers emerging forwards and says he’s excited about the new challenge.
“Hirdy rang and asked if I’d like to come down and do a little bit of work with the forwards,” Lucas said.
“I jumped at the opportunity to be involved with the club again in an official capacity and I’m really looking forward to the role,” He said.
General Manager Football Operations Paul Hamilton said the club was delighted Lucas had decided to come on board and help the club.
“We see him working closely with our young developing forwards and the rest of our coaching group,” Hamilton said.
“Hopefully he can pass on some the expertise he built up over a long and distinguished career at Essendon,” He said.
Lucas, who played 270 games for the club attended his first training session this morning and says the Bombers young forward line has a huge amount of potential.
“As a result of Essendon’s forward line being a young group, there is an enormous amount of potential there and my primary focus is to help continue their development,” Lucas said.
