Ben Jolley is one major step closer to making his AFL debut after today being elevated to the Bombers’ senior list. Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy indicated in his press conference yesterday that Jolley wasn’t far off selection.
Sheedy is keen to have a look at Essendon’s entire list – including rookies – this season and Jolley has been one of the standout performers for Bendigo this season. Last weekend he collected 24 possessions and laid 17 tackles.
This is Jolley’s second year on the Essendon rookie list after being recruited from the Calder Cannons. He captain Calder in the Under 18 competition and went on to lead Victoria Metro in the under 18 National Championships in 2004.
Essendon Football Club announced today that it would inject $600,000 into the re-development of the Cookson Stand to provide the Windy Hill precinct with a dedicated facility through which it will run its various community programs.
