Interest in Andrew Lovett appears to be heating up with Port Adelaide football manager Peter Rohde saying they will consider trading for him regardless of whether he is part of a deal involving Shaun Burgoyne.
Essendon this morning admitted Burgoyne was unlikely to land at Windy Hill but Lovett's desire to leave Windy Hill does give the club some bargaining power.
""We've spoken to Andrew Lovett … but there's a few issues to still be sorted through there,"" Rohde said.
""We're far from committed to him but in the next day or two we're going to sort that out, so we know whether that can be part of the [Burgoyne] deal or not.
""Andrew certainly has indicated that he's interested in talking to us … we've got to sort through contracts and things. We're not exactly sure where it'll go but it might be part of it.""

Bomber Jay Nash, 23, is also thought to be of interest to Port.
""We're pretty focused on the Shaun Burgoyne thing … maybe later in the week there could be some interest there,"" Rohde said.

Trade week officially began this morning and Matthew Knights was quick to say that the Bombers' priority is securing a deal that is good for Andrew Lovett and Essendon. ""With an Andrew Lovett trade at play we will just see what evolves over the week ahead. Nothing is concrete at this stage but we will just see how it goes over the next couple days,"" he said.
