Essendon captain James Hird has returned to Melbourne after a week-long stay in Perth to recover from facial injuries suffered against Fremantle. Hird boarded a flight from Perth late this afternoon and was met by his manager at Tullamarine and driven home. Hird was given the all-clear to return home after receiving medical clearance this morning. Hird will speak to the media later this week but first wanted some time to recover from the trip back.
The Essendon Football Club Annual Luncheon and Fashion Extravaganza is one of the highlights of the Events Calendar and guests were not disappointed with the 2002 version. To the enjoyment of all in attendance the Bomber boys took to the catwalk in the latest fashions from David Jones. Mark McVeigh, Mark Mercuri, Jason Johnson, Sean Wellman, Blake Caracella and Mark Johnson were some of the Bomber boys on show. Essendon favourite Tim Watson hosted the event at the Grand Hyatt with help from comedian Jane Clifton.
