Over 600 guests enjoyed the 45 minute parade that was themed to the movie Top Gun. A film clip to the song - ""Highway to the Dangerzone"" starring Mark McVeigh kicked off proceedings. McVeigh was the face of fashion for the parade and was a natural on the catwalk. He wore outfits from designers Marcs, Scanlan and Theodore, Melissa Jackson and merchandise from the Bomber Shop. ""It was good fun to have a go on the catwalk - the boys had a bit of a laugh. It is always an enjoyable day,"" McVeigh said.
Rising stars Jordan Bannister, Marc Bullen, Sam Hunt and James Davies are starting their AFL careers at Essendon - but the Bombers should watch out because the quartet may be lost to the fashion industry. All four took to the catwalk like it was their second home. Assistant coaches Mark Harvey and Terry Daniher received the biggest applause of the day. The two former Bomber players struted their stuff on the catwalk to the delight of the crowd. After receiving a standing ovation the pair decided to do another lap of the catwalk. Even though they paraded to the song - ""Yesterdays Hero"" - gauging by the roar of the crowd they are still considered Bomber heroes!
The parade climaxed with the Bomber boys in the attire the crowd knows them best in - the red and black guernsey. The players ran out in their famous Essendon guernseys and looked a lot more comfortable in the sportswear. Essendon supporters hope the Bomber players perform as well on Sunday against the Saints as they did on the runway today!
