Born-again Bomber Mark Mercuri says the bitter disappointment of being dropped from last year’s finals’ side has been the key to him re-igniting his career. Although his 2004 season is just two Wizard Cup-games old, his form in defence has been excellent and he looks on the verge of once again becoming one of the Bombers’ prime movers in 2004. His return to top form can gather further momentum should he play a key role in getting Essendon into the Wizard Cup Grand Final tomorrow night.
