Sheedy is outraged at the new rule and believes it reduces the coaches’ involvement in the game. ""It is a restraint because we might want to make different positional moves in games and we can't. I don't think they have a right to do that. One minute they are wanting to get out there and build up the Wizard Cup and in one other way they are trying to control it too much.
""Even if you only use four messages in the first quarter, you can't use six in the next. They are kidding themselves! They have only been in the job for five minutes, we will see how they go,"" he said.
The new rule is an opportunity to empower the players more, but as Sheedy said, you wouldn't want to have your three best leaders out. ""We have got more things to worry about than to tell our players how to make moves on the ground. It is just ridiculous,"" Sheedy said.
In other news from training, Sheedy confirmed that Adam Ramanauskas would not travel to Darwin. ""He won't play Friday night, but I would like to play him as soon as possible,"" Sheedy said. The Bomber coach said Ramanauaskas is a chance to play in the Wizard Cup if Essendon wins on Friday night, but reiterated that his health is the most important thing at the moment.
