General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton has confirmed that champion veteran Bomber Matthew Lloyd has a one-year contract offer from the club on the table.

Hamilton met with Lloyd yesterday to get an update on whether the club's all-time leading goal-kicker wants to play on in 2010.

“Matthew said he needs more time to decide if he will sign a new contract and play in 2010 and we are respecting his wishes,” Hamilton said.

“He has been busy with a number of things, including the birth of his second daughter, and doesn’t want to rush what is a very big decision for him.

“Naturally the football club, our supporters, sponsors and the wider football public are very interested in his decision but we will not be pressuring Matthew.”

Hamilton said Matthew Knights told the champion forward last week that the club wants him to play in 2010 and possibly beyond.

""Matthew Lloyd is a club champion and deserves to know the expectations the club has of him,"" Hamilton said.

“He knows there is a place for him in 2010 if he can physically and mentally commit to another season.”

Hamilton flatly rejected media speculation that Lloyd could be traded and also denied reports that Lloyd had demanded to be played at full-forward in 2010 saying that was ""simply not correct"".
