The Essendon team has no time for rest after its eight-point defeat by the Sydney Swans yesterday in the exhibition match at North Sydney Oval. The team commenced a four-day training and promotional camp in Sydney today and will travel to Canberra on Thursday in preparation for its Round 1 Wizard Cup match against the Kangaroos on Saturday.
The team had a light recovery session this morning at Bronte Beach. All players participated in the 7.30am beach session and the only injury concern from yesterday's match was Sam Hunt. Hunt rolled his ankle in the exhibition match against Sydney and is in doubt for the Round 1 Wizard Cup match.
The team will train at North Sydney Oval tomorrow at 9am. The full squad will participate in an intensive skills session before visiting schools in the North Shore area and Randwick Hospital in the afternoon. A selection of players and coaches will attend a Footy Forum in the evening at North Sydney Oval.
Although the final result didn't go Essendon's way yesterday in the exhibition match against Sydney at North Sydney Oval, there was many positives to come out of the game - namely the form of a few of the baby Bombers. Ruckman Jason Laycock was clearly the Bombers best player and close behind him was fellow draftee Jobe Watson. The 18-year-old starred across half-forward and kicked two goals for the match.
