The young Bombers side has continually defied the odds this year; using their speed and ability to out-run and out-carry they their more fancied opponents.

This exciting style of football is a tribute to the athletic ability of many of the Bombers players including the blistering pace of Andrew Lovett, Jason Winderlich and Courtenay Dempsey. Then there is the different athleticism of our tall players like Paddy Ryder.

In this week’s poll we ask who you think Essendon’s most athletic player is?

In last week’s post we asked what position you wanted to see Kyle Reimers play and 59.97% of people said the midfield or wing, ahead of 35.70% who thought the forward line and 4.33% who thought the backline.

Here’s what some of the fans had to say:

Peter from Melbourne, Victoria says: I think Kyle Reimers is invaluable as a winger/midfielder because Essendon needs players who can deliver accurately by foot to the forward line. Kyle Reimers is one of those players.

Maddalena Galli from Australia says: Kyle knows how to kick a goal, but he is also speedy, creative and isn't shy to use his pace and flair. Instead of playing as a permanent deep forward he would be very dangerous playing on a wing, and pushing forward when he gets the opportunity. He is a smart player and has fantastic offensive attributes. When he builds his fitness base he would be handy pushing through the midfield and he can contribute a couple of goals from there as well. Go Kyle!

Greg Sloan from Somerville VIC says: The great thing about Reimers is that he can play different positions. We have quite a few versatile players in our side which makes us unpredictable to the opposition. He was really terrific against the Swans.

Brian Campbell from WA says: I think Kyle is going to be a gun wherever he plays, he's got something about him.

Joseph Attard from Taylors Hill says: It was good to see Reimers get a go up forward, he is a good mark, but he is more dangerous in the middle where he can inflict the most damage.

Andrew Wood from VIC says: He played really well as a forward, and was unlucky not to add a few more goals to the scoreboard. We have plenty of midfield players at the moment – it’s forwards we need.

Jeremy from Victoria says: Essendon is known for their pace in from the defence and also from the midfield. Reimers should inject more of his pace and skill in the midfield and help strengthen that area.

Nick from Mount Waverley says: He is that type of forward who is really good defensively as well as being able to kick goals. He along with Davey and Monfries are the perfect half forwards.

Matt from says: Kyle is a good player and should be a lead up target from half forward. He can kick goals.

Alan McCready from Melton South says: Kyle can play anywhere, but missed a fair bit of pre-season so probably alternating between wing and half-forward should be the go for this year. With a full pre-season Kyle should form part of the midfield rotation.

Alex Badley from Wheelers Hill, Vic says: Would like too see Kyle running off the wing, provides plenty of pace, seems suited to the job well.

Phil Kerrison from NZ says: Would love to see Reimers developed as a player who could be rotated through the midfield and up forward. With Pears, Dempsey, Hooker, and now Hurley giving us plenty of drive out of the backline, this creates a golden opportunity to play Reimers as a key mid-field link, and where his great tackling skills can add great value.

James Brown from Berwick, Vic says: I think he has a healthy aggression and good skills. The fact that he can also play through the middle, can float back or forward to lend a hand means he is a real asset to the team. He needs to use his aggression to win the ball as his attack on the footy is awesome.

Rod Hagen from Hurstbridge says: Kyle Reimers has some great intuitive abilities, and a terrific ""go for it"" attitude to complement them. Wherever he plays, though, he needs to work harder on his ball delivery and harder on providing defensive pressure, than he does at present. I'd put him in the forward line until he gets such things better sorted because his mistakes will probably do less damage there.

Caitlin from VIC says: I think at the moment Reimers should be played in the forward line as that is where he can put pressure on the defenders and cause the most damage being a very attacking player. It would be great to eventually see him push into the midfield, but he may need to get a few more pre-seasons under his belt to build up a bigger tank.

Sam from Albury says: Kyle Reimers is a very talented and aggressive young footballer, who is playing some great football at the moment. I think that Matthew Knights is using him perfectly, keep up the great work Matty!
