Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy has called on Victorian clubs to stick together after suggestions were made that Brisbane was attempting to host a St Kilda home game at the Gabba. ""I think we should be concerned about how many games are played for payment interstate. Just imagine if they got two games up there in Brisbane. All of a sudden it is a shoe-in for a top four position and the first final in Brisbane - so you get a double whammy in that one. All I know is you are really trying to work your butt off to get a top four double chance position and in the end it is only a top three because you are giving one club one. It becomes a top three berth to fight for, for the Victorian clubs,"" Sheedy said.

""Mind you, I don't think the clubs in Victoria actually work together enough. I remember ever since the first draft and not every club picked a player out of Western Australia and in the end because we didn't sit down and talk about it - all of a sudden Kemp and Heady bobbed up and that hurt Victorian clubs for ten years. Victorian clubs need to sit down and think about where they are going with some of these decisions - it might be better to help than rely on other clubs to make that decision. In other words, if we all had have helped four Victorian clubs back in 1986 - the clubs that couldn't afford a player each out of Western Australia then the four players ended up in West Coast Eagles line-up. We should have been collectively smarter than that. There was eleven clubs at the time too,"" Sheedy said.
