More than two thousand excited Bomber fans are expected to swarm Windy Hill for Monday's open training session where the club will reveal the 2010 Essendon captain.

In what will be an AFL first, fans and the media will be the first to see who the new captain is when he leads the squad out of the change-rooms onto the oval.

There are six players in contention (Brent Stanton, David Hille, Jobe Watson, Dustin Fletcher, Andrew Welsh and Mark McVeigh) to replace the great Matthew Lloyd.

The open training session starts at 10am on Monday 21st December but make sure you get there early to make the most of visiting the Bomber Shop and Hall of Fame (which open from 9am) or take the chance to purchase a 2010 membership in time for the new year.

There will be a BBQ and the playing squad will sign autographs after the training session (at approximately 11:15am).

For those people who can't attend, Essendon will broadcast the event LIVE on this website.

One lucky supporter who is deemed to be dressed as Essendon's most passionate fan on the day will be awarded with an Essendon guernsey signed by the new captain.
