Speaking on Essendon's club show The Hangar tonight Heppell said the week off provided the playing group with a much needed break heading at the half way point of the season.
“It’s always good to get away from the club for a bit and get that real mental freshen up,” Heppell said.
“I think the boys have been really looking forward to the bye and are ready to go now.”
The Bombers will have to turn around a recent bad run of form at Patersons Stadium having won just 2 of their last 16 matches at the venue.
Heppell said the importance of a win on Saturday night was not lost on the players.
“A win in Perth would be a massive advantage for the club,” he said
“I think it is a pretty vital game for us this week but we are all really looking forward to it.”
