Essendon's selection committee have wielded the axe ahead of Saturday's clash with the Kangaroos, making five changes to the side.

Tayte Pears comes in to play his first game of the season this week, along with Brent Stanton, Tom Bellchambers and Sam Lonergan. Heath Hocking returns to the side having served a three-match suspension.

David Hille, Travis Colyer, Andrew Welsh, Henry Slattery and Alex Browne have all been omitted.
