Essendon Football Club high performance coach Dr Stuart Cormack has today tendered his resignation to the club.

Following three years at Essendon and almost 20 years working in elite sport, including an AFL Premiership with the West Coast Eagles in 2006, Cormack has decided to take a short break to pursue other professional opportunities and more importantly, spend time with his family.

“I’ve been considering my future for some time and have made what I think is the right decision. It’s been enjoyable to work with the players and I wish them every success,” Cormack said.

Cormack will finish up at the club this week.

General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said Cormack has had a positive impact on the development of the playing list at Essendon Football Club.

“Stuart has overseen the development of a training system that is known and respected internationally,” Hamilton said.

“He is a true professional and has been instrumental in elevating sports science in AFL football.”

Hamilton said the club would now begin an exhaustive process of securing the best person available for the position.
