The Bombers haven’t won over at AAMI Stadium since 2000. The team has played there six times since that win and the most recent defeat was in Round 1 when Port Adelaide disgraced the Bombers’ by 96-points. Mark Bolton is looking forward to the challenge of facing the in-form Crows and hopefully putting an end to the team’s losing streak in Adelaide.

""Playing over at AAMI Stadium I think will really test us. We haven’t played well over there in the last couple of years, I mean we have finished our season against Port Adelaide over there two years in a row. It will be great to get out on a ground we have not done to well at and prove a few things to ourselves,"" Bolton said.

Bolton has been one of the most consistent performers Kevin Sheedy has coached in 2004. He has stepped up to carry on the responsibility of minding key forwards following the departure of Danny Jacobs last year. The last two weeks have gone a long way in proving Bolton’s worth to the Bombers.

""Against Adam Goodes (Sydney) it was good to get the job done to help the team win, he’s probably one of the keys to their side. Last weekend against the Bulldogs I sought of found myself on a few different blokes like Patrick Bowden, Ben Harrison and Luke Darcy for a bit,"" Bolton said.

With the Bombers building a platform of consistency after five successive wins, Bolton is using this as a measuring stick of his own form for the remainder of 2004.

""What I’ll be trying to achieve this year is to get good consistent form and that is probably a bit easier with the back line that we’ve got. At the moment where it has been pretty settled,"" the 25-year-old said.

""Working with Fletch (Dustin Fletcher), Welly (Sean Wellman), Adam McPhee and Andrew Welsh every week has been good. They have all come back and played really well and we have been settled as a back six over the past few weeks.""

Despite being an integral member of the back six this season, Bolton has been used as a spare parts man in the past, which hasn’t fazed him. Bolton thinks the fact that he can play at both ends has helped his career. ""I think that’s probably what has kept me around for a little while, just being able to run and do different jobs for the team.

""I am happy to play wherever I am needed and if I can get a kick then that’s it pretty much. If jobs need to be done then I am happy to put my hand up. Last year I sought of played half forward and half back. Its good to be settled but I don’t mind playing either end.""

Bolton attributes the team’s recent winning streak not only to having a settled back six, but also having a settled side full stop. ""Having guys like the Johnsons’ back in the side and we’ll get McVeigh and Cupido back in the next few weeks so its been really good to have a good run with injuries, knock on wood. It just makes it a lot more competitive for those last few spots in the side,"" Bolton said.
