QANTAS Ambassador, Catherine Freeman, will take part in The Long Walk (TLW) this afternoon.

The Olympic gold medalist will join thousands of people on the annual walk from Federation Square to the MCG before the Essendon and Richmond Dreamtime at the 'G clash.

TLW project manager, Kim Kruger, said Freeman's participation was a strong show of support for the important work of TLW.

""Catherine is committed to supporting projects that aim to improve Indigenous well-being and it will be great to have her join other prominent Australians including Ernie Dingo, Aaron Pedersen, Rowan McNamara and Deborah Cheetham,"" Kruger said.

""Catherine has supported TLW in previous years which has helped raised the profile of the event.

""We are also looking forward to Qantas Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce attending the Federation Square activities ahead of the walk.""

The Long Walk activities start at Federation Square at 4pm today and include local bands (The Grenadines, Rachel Wirrpanda, Joe Geia Band) as well as Koori Night Market, traditional Indigenous games, Oxfam, arts and crafts from Wadeye's Palngun Wurnungat (women's association).

The walk to the MCG leaves Federation Square at 5:30pm.

Meanwhile, QANTAS is donating $50 for every goal kicked during the Indigenous Round.

The donation will go to The Long Walk (TLW), a charity partner of the Essendon Football Club.

Dreamtime at the G is supported by DESA Australia.
