Christmas has come early for five lucky Essendon members this week after winning an exclusive lunch with Bombers coach James Hird.
Chris Iser, Max Harris, Janine Clifford, Greg Stevens and Julie Unsworth were the successful candidates out of over 2000 members who entered the competition telling us why they wanted to have lunch with the coach.
The five winners are:
Chris Iser: His grandmother had dinner with Dick Reynolds in 1939 so he will continue a family tradition when he lunches with James next year
Max Harris: Max is 12 years old and lives in Tasmania and wants to get some playing tips from James to help his game. Despite living in Tasmania, he travelled to see the Bombers twice last season.
Janine Clifford: Janine is looking forward to lunch with James so she can take home some stories for her four-year-old son to inspire him to grow up to be a Bombers fan.
Greg Stevens: Greg lives in Shepparton and has been a Bombers fan for over 30 years. The appointment of James as coach has inspired him to take up a Vic Country Membership this year.
Julie Unsworth:Julie lives in Queensland but will travel to Melbourne for the lunch. A huge Bombers fan herself, James was her late father’s hero and this lunch will have special meaning for her.
The winners will also have the chance to interview Hird for Bomber.tv.
Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce its 2011 Telstra AFL Community Camp will be held in Bendigo on February 7 – 8. As part of the two day camp, the club will hold an open training session, super clinics, as well as school, hospital and community visits.
