Essendon Football Club wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the Stynes family following the sad passing of Jim Stynes.
 
Stynes, 45, lost his courageous battle with cancer this morning.
 
Essendon Chairman David Evans said Stynes had made a significant contribution to the AFL and broader community.

“Jim has been an inspirational person both on and off the football field and has made an incredible and profound impact on the lives of so many people.
 
“He had an amazing way of connecting with people and has changed lives through his work with the Reach Foundation and mentorship of young Australians.
 
"His tireless commitment and passion for the Melbourne Football Club is a testimony to his great love for the club and the game of AFL football.
 
“I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Jim’s wife Sam and their two young children, Matisse and Tiernan.”
