In 2009, Essendon Football Club will be producing a book in conjunction with Geoff Slattery Publishing. The book will comprise a series of essays tracing Essendon’s rise to the top following its darkest decade – the 1970s.

We are asking supporters to submit 500-word essays on their recollections of the 1984/85 seasons – the years that in so many ways defined this football club.

Did you worship one of the unsung heroes and why? Do you have an anecdote to share or a moment that in your opinion defined a Club? How much did those seasons mean to you as a passionate supporter of the Club? Do you have a photo to go with your words?

Basically, pour out your memories in any shape of form you wish. GSP will select the three best essays and they will be published as part of the book to provide an important account of the fans thoughts and feelings on two wonderful seasons for the red and black.

Your essays can be submitted to bookcompetition@essendonfc.com.au. Please include contact details and a note if you have attatched a photo that matches your story. Unpublished essays will be considered for publication on the Club website.
