It is crunch time in the Champions of Essendon! Second-round voting started yesterday - 30 players are left vying for the remaining 10 positions and the right to be named as a Champion of Essendon. Already 15 players have been named as Champions. In the next eight weeks a further eight players will be added to the list. The voting panel will then nominate two wildcards to round out the top 25. Once the Top 25 are selected the panel will rank the players from the greatest ever Essendon player. This ranking will be revealed at the Champions of Essendon Gala Dinner on Friday August 30.

Group 16 is up this week and contains four Bomber stars – Frank Maher, John Birt, Ernest Cameron and Percy Odgen. To vote - call 1902 245 049 (initial call cost 50 cents, cost vary throughout. Higher mp/pp) or via the BomberLandwebsite - www.essendonfc.com.au.

Each week one randomly selected voter will win – two tickets to the Champions of Essendon Gala Dinner at Crown Palladium, a copy of the Champions of Essendon book and a $50 gift voucher for the Bomber Shop. Weekly winners will be announced on the BomberLand website and contacted by the club.

Players already named champions of Essendon - Mark Thompson, Simon Madden, Michael Long, Dick Reynolds, Mark Harvey, Jack Clarke, Bill Hutchison, Albert Thurgood, Terry Daniher, Tom Fitzmaurice, John Coleman, Tim Watson, James Hird, Wally Buttsworth, and Ken Fraser.

Champions of Essendon Gala DinnerIn what will be one of Essendon Football Club's most memorable nights, the Champions of Essendon – in order – will be revealed at a gala event to be held at the Crown Palladium Ballroom in late August.
