Tim Bristow from Flowerdale says: I think much like other Bomber fans that Solly should play in the Wizard cup. Because he will need all the match practice he can get plus he needs to get his confidence back because he is a class player and an integral part of this team.
Damon Beckwith from Essendon says: It is not unusual that players have a few rough games when they have had an extended period on the sidelines. In the somewhat lower pressure environment of the preseason competition Solly could take some risks and be back to his best sooner. After all, given that he's been out for a year, what good will one more month on the sidelines do?
Coral Abrim from Shepparton/Victoria says: Dean should only play half games, which should get him to hisfitness for the full AFL matches with confidence.
Mark Eaton from Burwood East, Victoria says: Solomon was almost fit to play finals football in 2002. It was sensible to give him a full 12 months to recover. With a solid pre-season under his belt and with some match fitness from the Wizard Cup, Solomon will be a huge boost and should free Mark Johnson to play in the midfield.
Ryan Edwards from Riddells Creek, Victoria, Australia says: He needs to play before the opening game against Brisbane. He must get the feeling and form back into him. There is no question.
Charlie Spicar from Werribee says: Dean will need to build confidence that his knee can stand up to the rigors of Premiership footy. No better place to do this than the Pre-season comp.
Rob Fisher from Bendigo, Victoria says: If Solo is 100% fit then there is no reason why he shouldn't take to the field during the pre season. He's been out for a season so all the match practice he can get leading up to the season proper will be a huge advantage. If the medicos believe Solo is ok to play then let the boy play!
Robert Murray from Bayswater North says: Dean needs to play to get used to the speed of the game and to gain confidence in his knee under match conditions. Once that confidence is gained in the pre-season competition, he will be at his best and ready to fire when it matters most. Sitting in the grand stand watching his mates play would continue his frustration. As a professional AFL footballer he wants to apply the skills of his trade.
