ESSENDON will travel to Perth this weekend minus Mark McVeigh and Matthew Lloyd, with both still suffering from injuries sustained against Richmond on Sunday.
McVeigh will miss as his corked thigh has since affected his lower leg, while Lloyd might not only be absent for this week but round 19 as well with a bruised heel.
"McVeigh has had a bit of bleeding that's gone down into his lower leg so he looks likely to miss," assistant coach Ashley Prescott said on Thursday at Windy Hill.
"Lloyd is hopefully just the one week but he'll be touch and go for next week.
"It's one of those things that probably hasn't responded to the treatment as well as we would have hoped."
The Bombers had a few players pull up sore from Sunday's game, with Jobe Watson suffering a corked thigh and Alwyn Davey copping a heavy knock.
However, Prescott said the majority of the team had pulled up well and the coaches would make the final decision on who made Friday's trip after training.
"We had a few that had corkies, but it looks like most of them have come up pretty well," he said.
"We've got to have our main training session today [Thursday], so we'll finalise the team after that."
He said the Bombers wouldn't take chances on players that weren't 100 per cent fit, owing to the number of personnel pushing for selection in the VFL.
Players that would be considered for inclusion this week include Heath Hocking, Leroy Jetta, Hayden Skipworth, Darcy Daniher and Jay Neagle.
Prescott said the Bombers were unconcerned with their disappointing record at Subiaco, which has them with just four wins from 13 starts this decade.
He also believes the wide space of the Perth ground will suit the Bombers' running game.
"As long as we ... get our hands on the football and play with the right intensity, [it will suit us]," he said.
"It is a big ground, which if we get our work rate up, should suit our running-type play, but we certainly know West Coast will have plans in place to slow that down."
Prescott said the young side would head off on the interstate trip with self belief, having knocked off the Sydney Swans at the SCG only three weeks ago.
"We took a lot of confidence out of the recent victory we had at the SCG," Prescott said.
"It's a massive game; it's a final really for us, so we just have to make sure wherever we play, we play at 100 per cent."
