I hope that you found the first week of the program pretty easy to follow and you are now under way with your fitness program for the 2002 Season. This week I am off to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra with all of the players. Whilst we are there we will be working in with some of the best coaches and fitness staff in the country. In many cases I am sure that the AIS staff will be saying much the same as the boy’s have been hearing from us here at Essendon. But it is amazing what a different face and a change in environment can do. If you find that you are getting a bit stale with your weekly program, try changing the venue or link up with some different training partners.
All the best over the next week with your program. I look forward to your comments.
The Essendon Football team headed to Canberra this morning for a four-day training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport. Over the four days the players will participate in a variety of training sessions – including skill and development activities, biomechanics and weights. Assistant Coach Robert Shaw believes it is important to diversify the training environment to maintain the players’ motivation and training intensity.
