ESSENDON Adam McPhee has earned a nomination for the Toyota AFL Goal of the Year for his spectacular goal against St Kilda in round five.
McPhee was swamped by Saints defenders close to the boundary when he threw the footy onto his boot to kick a freakish banana goal while falling to the ground. The goal is already viewed as a favourite for the award.
Bomber fans can view and vote for McPhee’s goal here.
Voting is open from the Monday after each round through to the following Sunday night.
In 2008, the winners of the Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards will each receive:
* The use of a TRD Aurion for 12 months, presented by Toyota
* $5000 for their grassroots club, presented by Toyota
* A crystal replica of the official perpetual Toyota AFL Mark & Goal of the Year trophies
* The Alex Jesaulenko Medal (mark) and Phil Manassa Medal (goal)
At the end of the 22 round Toyota AFL Premiership season, the AFL All-Australian Selection Committee will decide the overall winner from the 22 weekly winners.
The awards will be the presented during 2007 Toyota AFL Grand Final week.
