Essendon is proud to announce that Strathmore Community Bank (Bendigo Bank) have signed a two-year agreement to sponsor the club's On the Ball program.

On The Ball - which is run by the Bill Hutchison Foundation in conjunction with Essendon - uses elite athletes as role models in the delivery of a school-based health promotion program.

The goal of On The Ball is to improve long-term health outcomes for young people by encouraging them to get involved and stay involved in sport,  developing their coping strategies, problem solving and decision- making skills.

Strathmore Community Bank manager Michael Moloney said the bank was looking forward to working with Essendon Football Club to improve the local community.

“It is very exciting to join with a true icon of our community, namely the Essendon Football Club, in this youth initiative. By entering into a partnership like this, the Community Bank can assist with the delivery of an important youth program to further enhance our local community,” he said.

Essendon managing director and CEO Ian Robson said the support of Strathmore Community Bank (Bendigo Bank) would help the program continue to reach over 1,500 students each year.

“Strathmore Community Bank is a great fit for the Essendon Football Club and specifically the On the Ball program from a partnership perspective,“ Robson said.

""This is very much a partnership - it is about what Essendon Football Club and Strathmore Community Bank can do together to make a difference in the local community.

""Strathmore Community Bank is a company that has a similar community focus to Essendon, a focus that is about giving back to the community. We are therefore thrilled with the support they are providing us.""

Strathmore Community Bank currently sponsors or donates to more than 30 local sporting clubs, primary schools, aged care facilities, community organisations and charitable institutions with contributions this year exceeding $300,000.
