One of Essendon's all-time greats, Michael Long, will be officially inducted as a club legend at the 2010 Season Launch next week.

Long played in the 1993 Premiership - in which he won the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground - and in the 2000 Premiership.

He played 190 games for the Bombers and, in 2002, was named at No.23 in the Champions of Essendon.

Long - who was adored by Essendon fans across the country - is also well known for his 1995 stand against racist comments on the football field which saw the introduction of new laws into the AFL. He also created the charity The Long Walk which is part of the annual Dreamtime at the 'G weekend.

The 2010 Season Launch will also see another 'legend' announced while seven new 'members' will be inducted into the Essendon Football Club Hall of Fame.
