After five rounds, Essendon sit alone in third position on the ladder with a win/loss ratio of 4-1, and have a game break on five other teams who have won three and lost two. Going into Round 6, and a very important clash against Richmond, the team will be bolstered by the possible inclusion of Misiti, Young, Prior and Ukovic.

Prior played his third game back from his knee reconstruction in the reserves and was best on ground. It was Round 11, 1998, in Adelaide against the Crows when Michael suffered his knee injury. While Michael is progressing well, a date for his senior return has not been set. Hopefully, for Michael, the date doesn't end up being June 4, 1999. Round 10, which gets underway with Essendon v. Adelaide, in Adelaide, is 51 weeks since Michael's injury! Current form suggests he will return before Round 10. We wish him well.
