Essendon midfielder Heath Hocking believes the Bombers will learn a lot from yesterday’s five point loss to Sydney at ANZ Stadium.

Hocking told BomberTV there were a number of areas the team will look to improve this week against St Kilda.

“It’s obviously disappointing to come all that way and then just fall short at the end,” he said after the game.

“But there are a few things we will work on and we’ve just got to get back on the track and focus on the next game.”

“Contested ball was probably down in the last quarter but there were a few other areas we let ourselves down and we’ll learn from it.”

Hocking praised the efforts of the Bombers forward line and said Paddy Ryder and Michael Hurley had become a dangerous duo in attack.

“Once you get it in there, they’re very good at creating a contest and kicking goals and that’s one of our strengths and we’ll continue to try and utilise it moving forward,” Hocking said.

Despite the loss, Hocking is confident the players will quickly respond against the Saints this Sunday at Etihad Stadium.

“We’ll get back on the track and do what we’ve been doing for the last five or six weeks and take it up to St Kilda.”
