If Essendon full forward Matthew Lloyd can boot seven goals against Brisbane on Saturday night at the Gabba he will become the third youngest player to reach the 400-goal milestone in AFL/VFL history. If Lloyd can achieve the feat this weekend, he will have taken just 47 days after his 23rd birthday. Only Bob Pratt (22 years and 238 days) and Tony Lockett (23 years and 30 days) have reached the milestone. It puts him ahead of John Longmire (23/183), Kelvin Templeton (23/201) and John Coleman (24/141). Lloyd will become the 63rd player to kick 400 or more goals and the ninth Essendon player.
After a slowish start to the season, Lloyd has really got moving in the club's past two matches at Colonial Stadium where he has kicked bags of 10 and 8 against West Coast and Hawthorn respectively. Lloyd's eight goals against Hawthorn means he has a better goal average against the hawks than any other side in the competition.
