Bendigo has gone down to Williamstown by 12points in a thrilling first VFL elimination final at North Port Oval onSaturday afternoon.

Bendigo surged home in the last quarter kicking five goals to one but the young side just fell short.

Only four AFL listed players took part inthe game for Bendigo – Sam Lonergan, Travis Colyer, Lachlan Dalgleish andElliott Kavanagh.

Earlier in the match Lonergan got Bendigooff to a dream start with two goals and ten disposals to have them leading atthe first change.

The Bombers midfielder hobbled from thefield with an ankle injury during the second quarter swinging the momentuem allthe way of Williamstown.

Jacob Thompson played a major part in theresurgence during the last quarter with the experience of Rick Ladson alsoimportant.

The loss finishes the season of Bendigo in their first year with Hayden Skipworth in charge.
