Star Bomber Mark Mercuri has been cleared of a striking charge and is now free to take on the Kangaroos at the MCG this Sunday afternoon. Mercuri was reported for allegedly striking cameron Ling of Geelong in last Sunday's match at Colonial Stadium. Mercuri pleaded not guilty and Ling agreed telling the tribunal it was basically a push in the back. Ling said he had tried to exaggerate the contact in a bid to get a free kick. The video replays of contact were inconclusive and based on the evidence given the tribunal found the charge was not sustained.
