Essendon overwhelmed a young Geelong side last Saturday night. Two days earlier Richmond dominated an injury-riddled and underdone Collingwood. Essendon will have its first debutant for season 2002 when Ted Richards lines up for the Bombers against Richmond at the MCG tomorrow night. Richards has been rewarded for an excellent pre-season, the highlight being his performance across the half forward line against Fremantle in round three of the Wizard Cup. Richards was selection number 27 at the 2000 National Draft and played his TAC Cup football with the Sandringham Dragons.
