Essendon has made its pitch to 2004 All-Australian and premiership midfielder Shaun Burgoyne to come to Windy Hill next year.
General manager of football operations, Paul Hamilton, said the 26-year-old would be an excellent addition to any club's list.
""We met with Shaun and his management late yesterday in Melbourne and presented our case to them,"" Hamilton said.
""Shaun wants to move to Melbourne and we are one of the three clubs that he has expressed an interest in joining.
""Naturally there is plenty to discuss and work through and we will just have to wait and see if he wants to come to the Bombers and if we can secure a suitable deal.""

Burgoyne has played 157 games with Port Power since debuting in 2002. He was recruited with pick No.12 in the 2000 National Draft.
The Bombers have picks No.10, 26, 42, 58 and 74 in the upcoming NAB National Draft.
Meanwhile, giant ruckman Christian Bock will be retained on the rookie list for the 2010 season.
The club has told fellow rookies Bryce Carroll, Kade Klemke, Thomas German and Rhys Magin that they will not be offered a place next season.
""We would like to thank these young men for their hard work this year and we wish them all the best for their playing futures,"" Hamilton said.
