Essendon's loss to St Kilda on Friday was further soured yesterday after Peter Berbakov underwent surgery on his injured ankle. Unfortunately, Peter's and the Club's worst fears were confirmed and Peter may miss the remainder of the season.

In an attempt to tackle dual Brownlow Medalist, Robert Harvey, Peter's legs became entangled leading to his injury. In the tackle, Peter broke his left ankle and also ruptured the medial ligament in his ankle. Peter's surgery went according to plan and he will face a minimum of ten weeks on the sidelines.
