In recognition of the 2011 Telstra AFL Community Camp, the Essendon Football Club will be travelling to the Bendigo region between the 7th and 8th of February.

As part of the two day camp, the club will host a coaching master class and an AusKick super clinic as well as a number of school, hospital and community visits.

Essendon players will also visit flood affected areas around the Bendigo region to assist with the recovery efforts.

Essendon last held a community camp in Bendigo in 2003, which was the first year of the club’s alliance with the Bendigo Bombers.

Essendon Chief Executive Ian Robson said the camp emphasised the Bombers support and commitment to the broader and local community, and further strengthened the club’s existing relationship with the City of Bendigo and the surrounding area.

“This year’s community camp is a fantastic way for the club to recognise the valued and wonderful support Essendon receives from the Bendigo Bank, Bendigo Bombers and the greater community of Bendigo,” he said.

Tickets are still available for the upcoming ‘Essendon Bombers Community Function’ night in Bendigo on the 7th February.

At $65 per head and children (under 15) at $30, the night includes a full three course meal with drinks at bar prices, special guest speakers including James Hird and exclusive auction items.

Fans will have the chance to mingle with their favourite Bombers, as both players and coaches will be in full attendance and seated on every table around the room.
