The Champions of Essendon had its 10th inductee this week after dual premiership winner Tom Fitzmaurice was named a champion of the club. Alan Belcher and William Griffith move into the recepcharge and Hugh Torney was omitted. Fitzmaurice played 85 games for the Bombers between 1918 and 1924. He was a superb high flying ruckman, and then centre-half back - with remarkable marking ability. He had a fine physique and was fast for a big man - he was the Victorian high jump champion as well as a top footballer.
