As Essendon celebrates Multicultural Round this week we take a look at some of the Multicultural Programs run by the club.

The Andrew Welsh Auskick Centre is a program aimed at culturally diverse youth in the Flemington area as a way to promote unity and diversity in the community and in football. The Centre is run in partnership with local businesses and the Victoria Police.

It offers children of a variety of different backgrounds the opportunity to try Australian football. It uses physical activity to help develop social skills and an understanding for healthy living and exercise through football related activities, all while promoting diversity and acceptance.

This year, the Andrew Welsh Auskick Centre had almost 100 participants from the greater Flemington area who were a part of the program and who successfully graduated after two terms of sessions. Some of the children who participated developed such a love for the sport that they went on to join and play in local football leagues.

Essendon great Andrew Welsh is very proud to be an ambassador to the program run by the Essendon Football Club who are proud to be the founders of the Andrew Welsh Auskick Centre and believes that it has great benefit in the community for those involved.
