A statue of Essendon legend Dick Reynolds will be unveiled by champion Bomber rover John Birt before Sunday’s Essendon v Melbourne match at the MCG. Essendon supporters are invited to attend the unveiling ceremony.

The unveiling will also be attended by some of Dick’s contemporaries and many of those he coached during his 22 seasons at the helm at Windy Hill. His widow, Jean, will also be present.

The statue is positioned on the Great Southern Stand concourse outside the Dick Reynolds Gate, the entrance to the AFL Members Reserve

The Louis Laumen work is the fifth of 10 statues commissioned as part of the Tattersall’s Parade of the Champions program. Statues of Sir Donald Bradman, Betty Cuthbert, Ron Barassi and Keith Miller have been unveiled progressively since 2002.

Shirley Strickland, Haydn Bunton, Bill Ponsford, Dennis Lillee and Leigh Matthews will be similarly honoured before the project is completed in 2006.
