Lloyd broke the arm after a collision with Geelong’s James Rahilly during the club’s final practice match in Bendigo. He was immediately taken from the ground and x-rays revealed he had broken the ulna – the smaller of the two bones in the forearm.
""I had a plate inserted but the plaster is now off and I went for a run along the Maribrynong River with John Quinn yesterday (Saturday) and I ran the Tan today. We just wanted to get it moving a bit so it didn’t stiffen up to much,"" Lloyd said.
""It is disappointing but there are players worse off than me – you only have to look at what happened to David Rodan or Richard Hadley (both had knee reconstructions). If there is a good time to do it, I suppose it is now.
""It is better than getting injured mid-season. I remember when I hurt my thumb, I missed eight games during the middle of the year and when I came back on just couldn’t find that confidence or get anything working.""
Lloyd says he wasn’t sure when he would return but that he wasn’t going to rush it. ""I just can’t afford another hiccup he said.""
