Davey cleared of rough play charge
Essendon fans can breath a sigh of relief with the news that first-year Bomber Alwyn Davey has been cleared of a charge of making forceful contact to the head of Adelaide's Martin Mattner yesterday afternoon. It means Davey will take his place in the crucial game against Fremantle at The Dome this Sunday.
Davey and Mattner collided on the Essendon half forward line with the Adelaide player clearly stung by Davey's attack on the football. However the match review panel found Davey had no case to answer. The panel found contact was inevitable after Mattner slipped after Davey was already committed to the tackle.
Matthew Pavlich will also be available for the game after his collision with Darryl Wakelin was also considered incidental.
THE Bendigo Bombers have three players on report at the moment. Jason Cloke will miss the first two games after being found guilty of headbutting while Heath Hocking and Tom Hislop will miss the season opener against Tasmania at Windy Hill this week after being found guilty of striking during the practice match series.
Calling all Bomber fans to Windy Hill this Saturday 7th April to come and support the Bendigo Bombers as they take on Tasmania. There is no doubt the Bendigo boys will be keen to put on a strong display for the Essendon army who come along to lend their support, hoping to secure a win in the first match of the season.
