The AFL trade period has come to an end for 2012 with Essendon not completing any further deals.
Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said after a busy start to the Trade Period the final day did not deliver much for the Bombers.
“Nothing happened today but we didn’t expect that there would be too much happen,” Dodoro said.
“As we have said we bring Brendon Goddard in, Gus Monfries went out and other than that we wanted to go to the draft and bring in some young kids.”
“We looked at a couple of players but we just didn’t feel the deals were right for us.”
Defender Cale Hooker has been linked to a few clubs throughout thelast week but will remain with the Bombers as a required and contractedplayer.
Gold Coast youngster Josh Toy had signalled his intentions to returnto Victoria with Essendon one of the clubs to have shown interest in the20-year-old.
Toy’s manager Liam Pickering yesterday revealed he was likely toreturn home via the pre-season draft if a trade deal could not be done.
Despite Port Adelaide midfielder Ben Jacobs requesting a trade toNorth Melbourne, the Bombers remained in the hunt but could not complete a deal.
Essendon currently holds selections 10,35,52, 55, 75, 93, 111 and 129 in the national draft.
The Club has already committed toselecting Father/Son recruit Joe Daniher with pick 10.
