With quality players missing, the responsibility will fall on the shoulders of second and third year players like Brent Stanton, Ricky Dyson, Jason Laycock and Jason Winderlich to ensure the team put up a competitive performance.
""We are looking at players being given a chance who are probably pushing to grab three or four spots still up for grabs in the senior side,"" O’Donnell said.
""It will be a group of young guys playing tomorrow who can get a bit of confidence against an opponent who is probably picking a half-decent side and it will be good to see how they go against a side like that.
""It will be good travelling there, its not too far away, hopefully we get a good day and a good crowd for guys playing in a country atmosphere.""
With only four weeks remaining before round one, Bomber supporters are wondering how long they will have to wait to see a side that may resemble a full strength side.
""We had a couple of players that pulled up a little sore from last week, and a couple who might have been able to play but your just holding them back and they are champing at the bit,"" O’Donnell said.
""You would like to think you would have two full hit outs of most of the guys who will playing in round one. We go to Queensland next week and probably Bendigo the following, that’s when we will try and get a semblance of who is going to represent us in Round 1."" O’Donnell said.
Names missing from tomorrow’s side include James Hird, Matthew Lloyd, Jason Johnson, Dean Solomon, Adam Ramanauskas, Dustin Fletcher, David Hille, Andrew Welsh, Scott Lucas and Mark Johnson.
Draftees Angus Monfries, Henry Slattery and Andrew Lee are all likely to play in their first serious matches for the club.
