Red-hot midfielder Darcy Parish has collected another eight votes to move up to third in the AFL Coaches Association's AFL Champion Player Award.

Parish, who won the Yiooken Award as best afield in Saturday night's loss to Richmond at Optus Stadium, collected game-high numbers in possessions (44) and clearances (11).

His 44 disposals also broke Essendon's all-time record in a game, surpassing Barry Davis' 43 against Footscray in 1969.

It's the fourth consecutive week Parish has topped the voting for the Bombers, with the 23-year-old collecting a whopping 48 votes from his past six games to move into third on 55 behind Marcus Bontempelli (60) and Clayton Oliver (68).

Zach Merrett (32 disposals, seven tackles) was a force in midfield alongside Parish, earning three votes to sit in sixth position overall.
