One of the few positives to come out of yesterday's loss to Fremantle was the game of solid midfielder Heath Hocking.

Speaking to media before recovery today, Hocking put the loss down to poor disposal and a failure to captilise on opportunities.

""I think it's a mental thing,"" he said.

""We feel the game plan is right and the fitness is up where it needs to be so it's probably just a mental thing the players need to work on at training and hopefully we get a better result next week.

""On the day we did butcher the ball a bit early and didn't capitalise on our opportunities when we went inside 50 for most of the day.""

Following two losses to start the season, the 22-year-old said the players need to support each other and rejected media suggestions the side got ahead of itself after a good showing against Geelong.

""We didn't play the way we want to play,"" he said.

""Knighta gives us the opportunity to take the game on and we didn't do that yesterday. We have to get back on the (training) track and work on our disposal and do better next week against Carlton.""

A far better effort from tall forward Scott Gumbleton - who was playing just his 7th career game - was another match highlight and Hocking said the players were happy for the 20-year-old West Australian.

""He took a few good marks and will only get confidence from that (game) and hopefully he plays well next week as well,"" he said.
