Essendon's nervous wait is over with the AFL Match Review Panel deciding late this afternoon that no players had charges to answer in the wake of its spiteful match against Port Adelaide last Saturday night. Adam McPhee's report was thrown out by the panel while contact between Dean Solomon and Gavin Wanganeen was considered inconclusive.

The report laid against McPhee from the second quarter of Saturday's match was reviewed with the panel ruling it did not believe there was a striking action and recommending no further action be taken.

Solomon and Wanganeen were in each other's face for much of the third quarter. Wanganeen eventually left the ground bleeding. The match review panel reviewed the video evidence but could find no conclusive evidence of striking.

Contact between Essendon's Justin Murphy and Port Adelaide's Stuart Dew from the third quarter of Saturday's match also came under close scrutiny. However, the panel decided they did not believe the incident constituted a wrestling offence and no action was required.
