Hird expected to be back for Bulldogs
Essendon captain James Hird is expected to play against the Western Bulldogs at The Dome next Sunday. Hird has missed the past two games after straining a hamstring against Brisbane in Round Six. But Hird moved well at training late last week and joined in team training prior to the Port Adelaide game last Friday - virtually confirming his availability for next weekend.

Ben Haynes is also available for selection having recovered from a broken arm along with Jay Nash who has missed the past two matches because of a bruised shoulder. Courtney Johns will also make his long-awaited return to football - whether that is at AFL or VFL level remains to be seen.
The only negative for the Bombers out of the weekend's game was the report of Adam McPhee. The Review Panel will meet tomorrow and adjudicate on the report.
Warren Tredrea has again proved to be the Bombers Achilles' heel, to lead a fast finishing Port Adelaide to a 19-point victory tonight at AAMI Stadium. Tredrea kicked five goals for the match including three in the final term to seal the Power’s victory. It was a gallant effort by Essendon, but it could not sustain the performance over the four quarters.
