Some of Essendon's icons from the '60s have helped inspire the current-day Bombers on the eve of their 2022 season, paying a special visit to the club for jumper presentation night.

Sixty years on from their Grand Final triumph under coach John Coleman, 11 members of Essendon's 1962 premiership team attended the NEC Hangar on Friday to mingle with players and share their stories and wisdom.

They included Hall of Fame Legend Ken Fraser and Hall of Fame members John Birt, Hugh Mitchell, Alec Epis, Barry Capuano, David Shaw and Don McKenzie, along with Russell Blew, Graeme Johnston, Paul Doran and Charlie Payne.

The event was another example of senior coach Ben Rutten's commitment to connect the Bombers' past with their present, as the club celebrates its 150-year anniversary.
